Stringer Pallets Engineered for Strength & Built to Spec
Three, four, or five-string configurations. 2-way and 4-way entry. Notched stringer designs for forklift versatility. Manufactured new from dense hardwood at our Pennsylvania facility.
Stringer Pallets That Carry the Load — Literally
The stringer pallet is the workhorse of North American shipping. Whether you're moving palletized goods through a grocery distribution center, racking high-value inventory in a manufacturing facility, or shipping internationally under ISPM 15 requirements, the right stringer pallet keeps your supply chain moving without failure.
At Jacob A. Weaver Pallet Company, we manufacture custom stringer pallets from new, high-density Appalachian hardwood — built to your spec, on our production lines, in our 20-acre Cochranton, Pennsylvania facility.
Our Stringer Pallet Construction Explained
A stringer pallet is built around three structural members — called stringers — that run lengthwise between the top and bottom deck boards. Stringers are typically made from solid 2x4 or larger dimensional lumber, and they're what give the pallet its primary load-bearing strength.
Stringer pallets are:
Cost-effective compared to block pallets for most applications
Strong in the rack when properly engineered
Lighter than equivalent block pallets, reducing freight weight
Available in 2-way or 4-way entry, depending on stringer design
The standard footprint for the 48 x 40 GMA pallet is used across the U.S. industry
For most palletized shipping, manufacturing, and storage applications, the stringer pallet is the right answer — and it's the most-requested style we build.
3, 4, and 5 Stringer Pallets — Choose the Right Load Rating
3-Stringer Pallets
The most common configuration in North America. Three stringers (two outside, one center) provide the standard load capacity required by GMA, grocery, and most general shipping applications. Cost-efficient and widely compatible.
4-Stringer Pallets
Adds a fourth stringer for heavier loads or improved deck support. A strong choice when you're carrying dense product, racking aggressively, or your standard 3-stringer pallet has been failing in service.
5-Stringer Pallets
Maximum load capacity. Five stringers distribute weight across a larger structural footprint, ideal for industrial equipment, heavy machinery components, drums, batteries, and other dense palletized loads.
Our engineers will recommend the right configuration based on your load weight, storage method, and handling environment.
Notched Stringer Pallets for Forklift Versatility
A standard stringer pallet allows forklift entry from two sides — the ends where the stringers terminate. When your operation needs entry from all four sides, you need a notched stringer pallet.
A notched stringer pallet has openings cut into the side of each stringer, allowing forklift tines to enter the pallet from the side and the end. The result is a 4-way entry—significantly more flexibility in warehouse handling, truck loading, and racking.
Notched stringer pallets are ideal for:
High-throughput distribution centers where pallet orientation varies
Operations with mixed forklift and pallet jack handling
Tight loading dock environments
Applications requiring rapid pallet positioning
We manufacture notched stringer pallets to the same hardwood standard as our solid-stringer designs — same lumber, same .113" nails, same engineering attention. Notching is precision-cut to maintain structural integrity while delivering the entry versatility your operation needs.
